AMB. MARCO CARNELOS

Ambassador Carnelos is the founder and CEO of MC Geopolicy, a consultancy company offering geopolitical, risk analysis and business intelligence advisory, and a Board Member of several Italian think tanks (such as Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), Institute of Global Studies (IGS), and Mediterranean Institute for Asia and Africa (ISMAA)).

Previously, he spent twenty-five years in the Italian Foreign Service, and he was posted in Somalia, Australia, UN New York and Iraq. For almost a decade he served also in the Prime Minister Office covering different positions as foreign policy adviser for three different Prime Ministers (Lamberto Dini, Romano Prodi and Silvio Berlusconi) and where he was in charge of special dossiers such as Middle East and North Africa, Libya, Lebanon, Russia, Afghanistan, G8/G20, Business Promotion and Terrorism. He has also served as Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process and the Syrian Crisis for the Italian Government, and as Ambassador of Italy to Iraq.
